water and the warmth of the sun

i am keeping this one in i think it is beautiful, over exposed something i have been feeling myself.

sound  ( sent to me by someone dear)

the sun is warming parts of the table as i type this to you, i want to be warmed by it too.  the sunlight is touching so many things as i look around, everything looks both delicate and beautiful.  i think i have taken half breaths for too many days now and i wait patiently for a deep long one. yesterday i searched for the sea, water,  i needed water and i found it just as  it too was being touched by the sun.

I am ready to be quiet, quiet before the snow comes and winter tucks me in. i want to speak only if what i say can be of use to anyone. i want to fill some of what has been lost and stay still. i want my hands to hold a bow and wood of something that can make sound after sound until i learn it and it learns me. i want to burn bridges in order to self preserve, it is what i do remember i told you that....

i want to be better for you, them and for those i have not met yet. i want to be better for myself-too myself and just maybe then the sun light will touch me.

the hen house, a call from a friend and the pond

the weekend was hard, the good kind of hard work. Our goal was to make the Coop into two sections, one for the hens and one for the rooster. trip to hardware stores, farm stores and then we started. K and i thinking about things as we went, which as you know can take much longer, create more problems but we moved through it. Saturday night finally arrived  as i came in i received a phone call from a friend, in this call came such an act of kindness. i was overwhelmed and that became what most of my thoughts for the rest of the weekend went to, how someone could be so good to me and if i am deserving of this kindness. ( i promise to share soon). Sunday what we thought would be just a few more hours of work turned into a full day once again, poor k weekend was consumed in making my hens happy and in turn making me happy. sunday evening we showered then headed to the market, just what we needed and came home and  prepared a meal and watched a movie as we did this K said would you like me to take a day off tomorrow, oh YES please.(he never, ever takes a day off imagine my excitement)

Monday i woke up extra early so i could finish without having to ask k for help. then we headed into the city for a coffee and to the grain store. came home and decided that we must go for a walk, did i mention that it was in the eighties and that we had the windows open, the weather surreal. as we were almost out the door i ran in to grab my camera k turned and said why are you bringing it when it has stopped working, i told him i just wanted to and maybe she would wake up but truth is it is habit i can not break, maybe even while clicking empty clicks she helps me see. we walked through the forest, k hoping to see a bear, i hoping not to:) then grace ran to the pond and we knew that she was going to jump in and we went to the pond and there she played and swam and then sophie joined her, i sat at the edge of the water as the dogs took turns  splashing me and thanked the sky for the lovely extra day, it was perfect and my camera although she was not able to take a hundred pictures i had snapped on that walk she managed to give me a few that captured the essence of my hearts content.

today i woke up to my daffodils blooming, imagine that happy spring.

a covered bridge and summer days

last saturday i had decided the night before i would take the kids to the brattelboro farmers market
then for  a swim. on the way i decided to take a more scenic route trough towns i had not yet visited. Route 100 in vermont is a beautiful drive. an audio played, the life of cleopatra, the kids( niece &  nephew) were sitting in the back seat listening, giggling and asking questions on what they were learning.

we stumbled upon a bakery sticky fingers we grabbed a  few things dreamt at what we left behind and made our way down the road, we arrived in the town of townsend found a man made beach for the kids to swim - no shade what so ever, made our swim a short one. we drove some more till we came to a covered bridge, many here in vermont, we decided to stop and walk through it, it was gorgeous but it seemed that many who visited decided to leave their mark( sad). there was people jumping from the bridge into the water, oh how i was tempted i always loved a high jump into the water. we watched as those who dared took the plunge. i took photographs as they did, something about these last few series are so summer to me and could easily be mistaken for a different time in history. Our drive ended late afternoon which included a visit to the Grafton Cheese shop where we tasted some good cheese and came home with the best apricot jam i have ever had, the home through the greenest oft mountains.

no name

It has been very hot here. on the hill it is usually at least ten degrees cooler but that has not been the case as of late. we have been swimming a lot. i am partial to quiet crowd free shaded water holes. we found this one called no name in arlington. i sat in the water as elle & dylan played, splashed, hopped on rocks, through rocks and splashed some more. i finished my book there, willa cather who has quickly become one of my favourite writers. i love the water, i love it cold and clear. being in the water reminds me of my childhood and every found memory floods back, it also reminds me of the time i have spent with k, camping in some remote part of the world, just him and i diving into the water after a long trek. can i admit something al though it is fun to discover new places, i have to say that working here on the hill, whether it is fixing fences, weeding the garden(tiny) or taking care of the horses once i get real hot from hard work there is nothing more satisfying to me that a good hose down, it is pure beautiful well water, icy cold and blissful, at times the most perfect water ever.

sunset and a friend

the other night i went for a walk with a friend. a friend from the wireless world, the blog world. I thought if the blog world was a country or a state the state sign would read "friendliest place one earth" or at least that is how i feel about sheila and you the wonderful women i have met here or is there?:)

We went for a walk by the water, sat on rocks and chatted about our past, or present and our futures. we took turns and in between there were moments of silence, except for the water hitting the rocks and a few birds that crossed the sky. It did not seem very long but hours had passed and the sunset performed it's waltz so gently that we could swear it was waiting for us to return safely to our cars. thank you sheila for allowing me to call you a friend and sharing in nature gifts.
