when the rain finally came

i have just come back from a long walk with the dogs, something that just two hours ago would have been impossible. It has been very hot, i try not to complain about it because i know here on the hill it is cooler than down there. the last few days any work outside has resulted in me being drenched from the heat, i like this for two reasons( only) my skin becomes soft, weight drops and i get to take cold showers all day:). Last night the sky threathened rain and the lightning was incredible but the rain never came. well this afternoon the thunder roared in and it rained good. weather such as this is magical up here, if i was to be honest a little nerv racking too, but beautiful just the same.

After the rain stopped and the sky started opening up, i knew i wanted to go for a walk with dogs, so i put on jeans and a trench coat temperature cooled down by twenty degrees in an hour and away we went. can i tell you that the smell in the air after the rain comes is the sweetest, that big random drops of rain that fall on me make me giggle, that walking on a a trail that has been made by tractors and horse carriages so long before i was born make me the happiest.

* the pictures above was from last week, before a very bad storm. i loved the colours of the sky and the trees and the darker parts of the hills were so thick  and flat in color, such contrast to what was going on around it.

odd light in the afternoon and a visit

i am sorry for the very little post this week. much editing to do and a few unexpected things and learning to grow a thicker skin..

my mum will be coming this saturday and to say i can not wait would be an understatement. we have many things planned a few days in brooklyn, time in maine, time in boston, time connecticut and montreal but the thing i really can wait for is her calming words, breakfast on the porch and to just be by her side.

hope you are well dear readers as i type this i see a big branch swing by my window, i get up only to discover the cow clarabelle has left her pasture and decided to eat by my window.

the curtain

i could not let it go. it was calling me. it was not just the the old window, the dusty lace curtain or the red ribbon that tied it. it was the light asking me to look, so i did. first i noticed the reflection on the wall, then red ribbon, the lace curtain, the dusty window. i walked towards the window as if it was waiting to tell me the story of the last three hundred years.

wanting that glow

dear friends it has been one of those crazy week's necessary weeks the ones you dread but must do. the funny thing about that is at the end i can not help but change. today while driving to the cafe i was listening to some chopin perhaps a bit too loudly in the car i had gotten lost in thought when my ears broke away from the violin my eyes focused on a toys r us sign as if for a few moments before i was somewhere else, somewhere without strip malls, neon signs and drive up windows. I started to think about-the places i go in my mind and if one day my mind will skip out on reality and permanently live in these places. i have become an observer wait, i have always been an observer but my eyes have begun to focus on things differently, as if i am getting ready for a journey where these things will not exist, a place where one day i will only visit while the music plays.

love light

the other day k and i happened to be upstairs in the loft at sunset which pierced through our windows. i saw k's shadow and we played in the minute or two that the sun lingered.

....and he rescued me

there is times when i feel overwhelmed and all i want is for him to hurry home. i pick him up from the train but i can't say anything, i can't tell him how much i missed him all day, i can't tell him how i love him, i say nothing at all. we get home and instead of me being cheerful i am a bit melancholy, don't really know why and slowly a tear falls and just when i feel a whole rush of them he says "you want to go for a walk with the dogs and your camera" and all i can do is nod. while the waves hit the edge, the dogs run and my lens zooms in- my heart fills up again and he captures it.

capturing the light

sometimes i am minding my own business and boom the light hits something in the kitchen. within seconds my hand is trying to locate my camera..then i am instantly snapping away, while my mind starts racing. I grab what ever i can around me and put it into the light, click, click, click..not good enough so i grab other objects while saying to myself hurry make it happen..then my heart starts to beat faster to the point were it is uncomfortable and i am saying to myself now i better have gotten it...and i wish people could see it..the light that is....so panic begins to kick in...and i start moving all the dials on my camera trying this and that. now i have become irrational and my brain hurts that i actually think i could smell it burning(which happens often- i know odd)..anyways as if being shocked i let go.. i must stop or I will be found on the floor with my camera in my hand and dog slobber..and when they look at the pictures that i just took..someone will utter oh an onion or a white pitcher and they will miss it all together...

*the top two photos happened within seconds of the rest, while chasing the light and playing with my camera the light disappears all together...(i think they look like paintings)
