waterlily

it was sunday i was in porland maine to meet up with k who was working. portland was celebrating it's old port festival. a big festival with foods from around the world, half a dozen music stages, artist of all kinds. I had arrived midday, tempature was hotter then expected dogs in tow and a crowd bigger then i could have imagined. I was tuckered before i even started. Somehow i regrouped listened to music, walked along the cobblestone streets and peeked threw many of Portland's finest shops but then i came across water lily. before i knew it my whole body was pareusing this gorgeous shop. I was in aw of how well the shop was put together, the colors, the furniture in which the beautiful textiles were housed had me spell bound. i started taking pictures and talking to the owner rene who was as lovely as her shop. everything hand picked and ethically made and bought by rene herself who travels to thailand, combodia, india... Rene describes on waterlily web site how while on her first visit to the hills she learned how the color indigo was made, pounded out of leaves till it becomes the perfect shade. It is evident in everything in her shop from local handmade to her vintage red shoes( i know) she loves what she does and that is a great thing for us. my only regret is i did not put my camera down and purchase extremely reasonable priced scarf or two.

the femininity of winter (talking to the sun)

she found herself resting more often on her journey. epidemie of femininity could not understand why the snow had left her.
she loved it so, it hid all the imperfection of her world it made things brighter. she pleaded with sun to float higher in the sky. the sun chose not to listen and instead shined brighter, closer warming the earth beneath her feet. he explained to her that underneath the soil was living things that waited patiently and are eager to show there little heads. she asked the sun "tell me more" he explained that he was responsible for all these young things that he could not let them down it was what he lived for. she understood and from that moment she started to look at things in whole new way but poor little femininity was afraid to take a step and hurt the suns work...

a place of rest and simple things

i am fortunate to have my second floor be a loft. it houses my bed, clothing books and lots and lots of room. The last few days i have spent much time here as if somehow my last post brought on a bit of fatigue, i am grateful for it though. I have read and watched pre 20th century epics series after series, in fact so much so that this morning at the cafe i found myself overly proper in my speech. is it silly of me to wish that some of what was once comes back, would you think badly of me if i said i would not mind all those pretty garments, horseback riding and books. as for the things i would mind, well there is many
things about that era that i would not bare..but today i only wish to talk about those that would suit me just fine.

getting to know my home part two

there is still carpet to be torn out, walls to be painted, weeds to be plucked many boxes to unpack, and paintings to hang. Sophie is getting used the sounds and is the best sleeper i have ever seen. there has been dinner on the the deck, deep conversation, laughter, some arguing and the time i locked myself out for hours...but the best thing of all is, that it getting to be ours. another thing that is now ours is a new friend for sophie, a newfoundland pup named grace that i will introduce you too right after i tell my husband we can keep her ( hence the arguing) him " i am bringing home a sister for sophie" me" what! sophie is a giant puppy and a lot of work" him i will just bring her home for you to meet her" me " ya right like i will be able to say no to her after she has been here for a few days" him "sure you will"

sure i will:)
