a place of rest and simple things

i am fortunate to have my second floor be a loft. it houses my bed, clothing books and lots and lots of room. The last few days i have spent much time here as if somehow my last post brought on a bit of fatigue, i am grateful for it though. I have read and watched pre 20th century epics series after series, in fact so much so that this morning at the cafe i found myself overly proper in my speech. is it silly of me to wish that some of what was once comes back, would you think badly of me if i said i would not mind all those pretty garments, horseback riding and books. as for the things i would mind, well there is many
things about that era that i would not bare..but today i only wish to talk about those that would suit me just fine.

I understand the nostalgia for a time i've never known. Any time seems better than this time. More elegant, less jaded, slower.

i know what you mean, i adore so much of the things of the past, the good things of course :O) there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

i am reading a really good book set in the 18th century and just an hour ago i was thinking to myself that i long for that innocence, that loyalty, that dedication and the effort put into woman's appearances of that time. your lace photos capture it so well for me...

nadia, i read this yesterday and then immediately thought of you while reading before bed. in speaking of an old house: "it's so full of humanity - i could hear petticoats in the hallway." (from on beauty by zadie smith)

Very sexy pictures!
Everytime I read Jane Austen or watch a movie from one of her books I find myself transported to a world where manners and honors meant as much to me as they did back then.

Hope you have recharged your batteries!

Is that a block of Savon de Marseille I spot? That soap is fantastic and, I've heard, works wonders on stains.

i just rented bleak house...don't know anything about it, but i just love movies like that playing in the background while i work on projects. i think what attracts me most to times gone by, is the simplicity of their lives...today we have so much "stuff"... everything back then was beautiful and well worn.

and ohhhhh...the pinecones:)
