the knocking wind and color

in the very early morning the most incredible strong wind and rain had our farm surrounded. i love a good storm but with animals somewhere deep into the pasture, i worry. it is all okay now a few blown doors and scattered things that is all. the sun is bright and white clouds move quickly and the wind well he is still trying to come in.

I have been gathering things to decorate the house for the holidays but before i do so somethings must be put away, i found myself visiting upstairs and decided to snap a few shots of some color.

*it is a beautiful day, warm i mean take your sweater off warm, run and get the sunscreen warm! more about it tomorrow- i am actually going to cut the grass( just the very long new grass). i think my cheeks are already red yikes!!

waterlily

it was sunday i was in porland maine to meet up with k who was working. portland was celebrating it's old port festival. a big festival with foods from around the world, half a dozen music stages, artist of all kinds. I had arrived midday, tempature was hotter then expected dogs in tow and a crowd bigger then i could have imagined. I was tuckered before i even started. Somehow i regrouped listened to music, walked along the cobblestone streets and peeked threw many of Portland's finest shops but then i came across water lily. before i knew it my whole body was pareusing this gorgeous shop. I was in aw of how well the shop was put together, the colors, the furniture in which the beautiful textiles were housed had me spell bound. i started taking pictures and talking to the owner rene who was as lovely as her shop. everything hand picked and ethically made and bought by rene herself who travels to thailand, combodia, india... Rene describes on waterlily web site how while on her first visit to the hills she learned how the color indigo was made, pounded out of leaves till it becomes the perfect shade. It is evident in everything in her shop from local handmade to her vintage red shoes( i know) she loves what she does and that is a great thing for us. my only regret is i did not put my camera down and purchase extremely reasonable priced scarf or two.

edible color

what i am about to say may shock some of you I FOUND THESE AT WHOLEFOODS- i must confess to not having had a taste. the last macarons i had were delivered to me by post, from the super talented pastry chef aran of canelle and vanille. So i will have to let you know how these fare, but for now they are going to a friend who's birthday was yesterday. we were going to celebrate it today by the river, with pretty clothes, props and cameras but the rain got in the way. sheila is kind, she is smart, she is strong, her heart beats loudly and softly, she does magic with her pen, she does wonders for my soul! Happy Birthday!
