cheese and good friend.

on the day i finally got to meet a dear friend deb( dearer now more than ever) from bonbon for the first time in person we found ourselves dinning in at the most wonderful place five leavesin greenpoint. the food was incredible, deb and i enjoyed salads along with the most delicious truffle fries, my mother had mussels with a coconut and curry. for dessert we had panacota( aran so delicious we thought about you the whole time)and sticky date pudding.

then later we walked around williamburg. we went in and out of shops till we stumbled upon the bedford cheese shop! so delicious i think i did a faux pas when i asked " I would like a cheese that burns the roof of my mouth" an expression k. and i use for very sharp cheese- but being professionals as they were found us the perfect one we all took some home. as we were getting ready to cash out they asked us if we wanted any of their breads to take home on the house OH YES PLEASE! every night after we came back to the apartment from a full day and night my mum and i would put our pj's on and have cheese with bread, avocados and mangoes.( sorry for bad pics)

what is your favourite cheese?

A cheese shop, I want to go! My favorite cheese, hmm....I love Camembert or a rich double creme. I love brie too. My favorite thing though is to order a cheese plate and try a bunch. So glad you got to meet Deb, sounds like she was a wonderful guide too!

I so enjoy what you share of your world ... Edam is my favorite which my brother tells me is for people who don't like cheese.

i go mad for cheese. i too, like cheese extra sharp (the burn the roof of my mouth kind too). so yes, strong cheddars. i'm not at all a huge fan of soft cheeses. so there you have it. :) i'm loving reading about your visit with your mom. she has a very kind face indeed!

I guess I would call myself a cheesehead...when I was in Toronto in the spring, I happened upon a great cheese monger in the St Lawrence market. The proprietors must have thought I was mad, taking a kazillion pictures of their beautiful rounds of world cheese! Yum!

My favorite cheese is Monterey Jack. But it's not like I have much experience with REAL cheeses...not eating animal rennet puts a mighty crimp in sampling Old World cheeses. :p

Did you say you eat bread with cheese, avos, and mangoes, all together? Or do you eat the mangoes on the side?

Nadia, indeed the very same place! Weren't the people there so lovely? If it were just the cheese that would be enough, but their kindness turns it into a wonderful experience. :)
