she is a girl with pretty things

i am not a girly girl, oh i used to say that a lot. five minute showers, no blow driers, no make up, no scissors come close to my hair. when it came to clothes it was a little different the best worn out boy blue jeans with the most delicate of white shirts, pretty earring or necklace and the shoes always pretty almost always red and sometimes scuffed! well now a days on the farm i look like i belong in the barn- no it is true! except for my hunter wellies everything else is well, a mess. i can always be found with hay in my hair. on a car ride home my mother said honey your letting yourself go as she pointed at my vintage bag with a whole in it, my black long sweater that she saw on me everyday that week! I wanted to tell her who cares i feel good but truth is i did not feel good,i had noticed it myself. as i walk past the walk in closets bursting with pretty things i have gathered i realize somehow myself esteem has slipped. so here is to bringing the pretty things out.

i always seem to find that the most beautiful of women are the most simple: no makeup, hair a mess, etc...you definitely fit my definition of beautiful. have fun pulling your pretty things out of the closet...i know the feeling oh so well.

mmm! i know that feeling. having a simple look doesn't mean having a frumpy look. you make me want to take my pretty things out too.

i've been following your blog for some time now and i really like your photos.

p.s. do you ware ladybugs? :)

I guess working on a farm you can't wear white blouse and bracelets, or red shoes. I was going to say save them for the weekend, but the animals don't work Monday thru Friday and nor do you I expect.

I feel you on this one. My style has long since disappeared and sometimes I don't know where I fit in. I feel as though I've let myself go abit. I guess our fashionstyles really reflect what our lifestyles are like at this very moment. I must say though that those shoes are absolutely adorable.

very pretty things indeed:)

i get stuck in a rut every once in a while too...yoga pants, tee shirt, hoodie. not very attractive, but mostly makes me feel slumpy. xo!

Oh, nadia, you've touched a sore spot...
I think that there is a difference in possessing pretty things and feeling pretty...
Is it from the inside out? or does the outside influence the inside?
I changed my hairstyle a few months ago and got such compliments that my style just perked up, now it is growing out and I feel I am slipping back to 'blah'...
Chicken or the egg, Madame farmer?

Here's to bringing them out indeed! The best feeling is realizing that you have such great things right in front of you. Especially the pretty things :)

here here! bring them out!!

While I see Valentina's point, and in fact agree, pretty things can be the frame on our canvas. Nothing can replace the confidence that you are beautiful simply because you are (it's true!), but sometimes we need a little reminder or a shot in the arm. I feel that much more ready to take on the world when I feel put together!

your post is perfect timing as i too have been feeling a little, well, dressing the same every day and forgetting the rest of my pretties. i've been on a school break and lounging around the house, running errands and feeling as if i don't really need to fancy up, but hey, we can fancy up whenever we feel like it. so today i will, thanks to you :)

maybe you've just been taking care of other beings and forgot about yourself? i love your pretty things, especially those darling shoes. they will look much sweeter on you, though.

Thanks because this has reminded me of how much a mess I've become too. I don't even brush my hair!
