the curtain
i could not let it go. it was calling me. it was not just the the old window, the dusty lace curtain or the red ribbon that tied it. it was the light asking me to look, so i did. first i noticed the reflection on the wall, then red ribbon, the lace curtain, the dusty window. i walked towards the window as if it was waiting to tell me the story of the last three hundred years.

I don't blame you for not being able to resist! She's beautiful.
Absolutely LOVELY!!!! I love the story and the photo!! xo
These photos are gorgeous. The play of light and shadows creates such a beautiful mood. xo
Only your eye and attention for beauty could capture this moment in time.
You've done a superb piece of work yet again. Lovely images!!
What type of camera are you using? The results are like, WOW.
jules :)
and i bet she did tell you ... in a whisper. these are lovely!
Nadia, I can't believe how beautiful those are! I used to stand on the front porch of my grandparent's 100+ year old home and try, try to see things as they must have been when it was first built. There was always that lingering breath of the past hanging in the air and beckoning...
I love your ability to wait patiently for the beauty of the details to come forward, and your seeing/hearing of the light ... in this post and in the beautiful eggs before this....
this is so reminiscent ...
I have similar curtains, very old too. I am, rather absurdly, afraid of washing them, almost as if washing them will remove their age. I'm a silly girl, I know :)
beautiful photos! i love that your home is 300 years old. so much history living there with you.
I do love your photos*
I am not sure what it is about your photos, but the color red seems to speak. I spent a hour today going through all of your photos and they all have a story. Red is in the stories. Great work. Thank you.
