what makes it good
i was thinking about the weekend and started wondering what makes it good for you? for most of my life a good weekend would have to include travel. staying home for more than an hour or two before bedtime would be all i could handle. it would also be a good weekend if i was working on a huge project. now things have changed. this morning i was thinking to myself how glad i was that it was friday. last year i dreaded weekends, yup i loved mondays and even posted about my love for mondays. well things have changed and i can't wait for it! so what make me say " i had a great weekend" well spending time with k. cooking something good, our walks with sophie and grace especially our sunday late afternoon into dusk walk at the farm. I like reading the new york times book review at the cafe with k on sunday mornings and having cynthia, tyler, debbie join us. I like how my house smells after i clean it on friday. I like an impromptu dinner by the fire. i like snow, snow and more snow. I also like letting go of something.( my goal is to let go of at least one thing on the weekend whether an object or something that has been occupying my mind. I like finding out how dylan did at his hockey game and having elle read to me in french. I like my chat with my mum and when my brother stops by, i like when my camera has found something good and dancing and running around the house. this is a new side of me, it took a while to get used it but i am finally getting to know her! so what is good weekend for you?

A good weekend to me is where I can spend time with family and friends, while still having some alone time to get stuff done. Oh and sleeping IN - I love it!
Week-ends are my work week. The kids are home and so is my husband. They all need something from me and leave their messes everywhere. I prepares 3 meals a day, run from one sports practice to the next, catch up on laundry There are kids everywhere, birthday parities in awful places like chucky cheese. I don't usually get to write. i become the chauffeur of everyone. I get no solitude. Rahhh...
Mondays through friday, I am much more serene.
what loveliness!!!
A good weekend for me is tuna on crackers with my girls, a nap, a good book or a movie & visits with friends.
a good weekend for me is one that starts with a peaceful sabbath and that then flows into unexpected surprises like a spontaneous breakfast with friends. i love swimming with calvin or reading whilst it is raining. i like pyjama sundays and suppers with mom but more than anything each weekend that is marked by a beautiful sabbath remains a blessed one.
we haven't been eating out much so it's a splurge but I love brunch. i've been looking forward to tomorrow's brunch outing all week!
to have one, yes it's been now 2 years since I started working at the museum and weekends I don't know what they are anymore. I missed them a lot. I have 11 free weekends in a year during my holidays and that's it.
A good weekend for me is a good sunday morning - during winter to stay in bed with husband with nothing to do ahead and in summer time to go to the market I love this-.
wish you a good weekend ;)
What makes my weekend good is quite simple - having time to think. I don't have many of those types of weekends these days, but I certainly appreciate them when I do :)
Great photos, I missed so many beautiful posts here. And thanks for your kind words on my blog.
i used to be the same way. always on the move and wanting to be some place where i wasn't. now i'm content if i get to bake and take pictures and go to the park. the prospect of a making a grilled pizza with c and j is all i need really. happy weekend nadia!
ps: love the little birds. made my morning!
i love reading about what makes your weekend! and i love how you describe your evolution...life a little quieter...i like when i can get work off my mind (not today)and when i can do something for myself, spend time with good friends and when it just lasts a little longer than expected...
have a beautiful weekend n....
weekends when I'm not working I love to sleep later and have a delicious breakfast and spend time with my family and friends...
i love those little felt flowers...
and i love my weekends spent at home. cleaning (i know, i know), baking, making something for dinner that takes some time and care, having friends over to enjoy some good food and drink, curling up with a cup of tea before everyone else wakes up, talking to my mom on the phone, going to the dog park, planning for things to come...simple and fulfilling.
A good weekend is getting to sleep in, hang out and cuddle with my furry children and husband, eating good food, having the chance to read and/or watch tv (two things I don't have much time to do during the week), and possibly go out somewhere fun, if that's on the menu.
I like your idea of letting go of one thing, whether it occupies our thoughts or physical space. Brilliant. I'm making a note to myself to do this.
being freelance, sometimes i work on week ends, which i don't really mind as then i can be lazy on monday...
otherwise the sole company of my boyfriend is enough for me, even if we don't go out !
and having friends for tea and cakes on sunday, especially when it rains...that's my happiness for me !
hope you had a lovely week end Nadia !
i must say i find you're blog to be quite enchanting... the pictures and the music completely grabbed my attention; took me away. you're quite gifted to have the ability to put all that together; the idea behind it. if you would tell me what song that is and/or who sings it, that would be splendid..
what makes a weekend good for me?.. well, for as long as i could remember it's been "alcohol" and hanging with some friends at some lounge, etc. now i am coming to realize, doing something new, something other than just drinking and hanging out at some stupid bar/lounge, is much more preferred and/or enjoyed. i'm coming to realize (amongst many things) how much i love to travel, how much more i'd like to indulge in things that only seem possible on tv or in my dreams... i wish i had realized this sooner, but better late then never huh!
dreamy,
all songs are listed on the playlist at the bottom of this page.
thank you so much for your lovely comment!
have no regrets, just changes!
instead of letting go of something, i like to create, especially on the weekend. then there's nothing but time to get up at 6, knead bread as you watch the sun rise, then watch the morning (and other eyes) open up as you wait for the dough to be ready.
then warm brioche, endless pots of tea and writing, knitting, taking pictures...what could be better?
