friendship and an affair with a neckalce

deb click on the one bellow

I would like to take a moment to talk about blogging, friends and women. You see for as long i can remember friends that have been woman did not come easy, don't get me wrong i believe that i make a very good friend..but my willing to give, put things aside for others and my generosity for some reason ends up getting questioned..this has happened since i was a young girl. therefore i have always had friends that have been men in fact my best friends have always been boys. It took me a long while to understand. I have never been competive with woman, i actually don't understand it- i have been known to give my best ideas to woman saying to myself i will just come up with new ones...

okay so why i am writing this? it's because something is happening and it is because of blogging. i spoke about it before here, but more and more i realize what an amazing group of women i am getting to know. i am overwhelmed with happiness when i read comments of personal nature- the openness and generosity of time, advice and stories. Is it just me or something major has happened... somehow in the safety of our homes, studios, offices we are able to open up, listen and get inspired. I have met in amazing group of women yes that is you i am talking about.

one such person is Deb from Bon Bon Oiseau from the second she said hello on a comment i could not help but to take notice of how whole she lives her life, not only does she create beautiful things but she sees them, takes note of them, translates them in her daily life and then shares them with us. whether it is her comments or noticing a piece of laporte on her blog or an e-mail letting me in on her wonderful insights and thoughts or the lovely package i received last week..so lovely i could not open it right away. I am truly blessed to have her in my life- yes i can say that because what is amazing about this place, is that it is different ...outhere we cross each other in the street maybe or not we say hello but were stuck behind the physical..but here we start from the inside out..we almost immediately get to see the within then the rest follows...even with the last post about what makes you glow i thought that I would get some names of products but instead it was filled with the most beautiful inner beauty secrets of spirit, laughter, accomplishments and generosity! see how special you guys are!!!

the photographs above are from the lovely surprise package i recieved from deb.... I am in love with everything from the card(shoes), book( drooling), postcards and the necklace that is so beautiful( i have to admit i have wanted to take pictures of one her creations for along while) and now i have one of my own....

i want you to know how lucky i am to have you all in my life,
please know this always...

what an amazing post this is. deb's piece is delicate and you photographed it so beautifully.... i have also been the kind that struck great friendships with men but had some difficult ones with women. i thought men were easy. but now i find that i get so much more from women. i get to learn and share so much. and i feel o lucky that i got to meet you and deb through this fascinating world of blogging. thank you for this.

What a wonderful post. My groups of friends have always been mostly made up of women. I thrive when I have supportive women around me. I have five brothers so maybe making friends with girls was my protest against being the only girl at home!

i hope you know that the feeling is mutual. i started my blog as a way for faraway friends to keep up with my tiny moments. it became so much bigger than that. so much. i reflect more, i challenge myself more, i see things with new eyes.
i feel honored to read about and hear from so many wonderful women, including you dear nadia.

p.s. that good bird makes such lovely pieces!

nadia, this is so touching i actually got a little choked up...thank you for your kind kind words--you give so much just by showing up so often for me--you understand i think...You have such a big heart Nadia and are so open...it was a little gift to thank you for always sharing so much, nearly every day through this wonderful new medium.

i've also met such lovely people through doing this--i would have never imagined until I opened myself to the possibilities--some people you just feel connected with for some little reason that isn't always so clear...i just know that some people, especially you and aran that make me want to be a better person for sure...
I have brothers only and had a harder time relating to women but over time I am understanding how important all kinds of relationships can be and like aran said, there is so much to learn from and share with other women...especially you!

big hugs, deb

The necklace is beautiful!!
I was thinking about the same the other day, I am not the competitive type, and as a teenager I received bad attitudes from same of my friends.
Today I always get support from almost all my kids friends mothers, my friends and other bloggers.
I think it is an age thing.
My girl who is 8 is suffering that, and I have to say little girls can be very cruel, I know she also have some good girls around and that make me very happy.

I totally agree, I am feeling so loved and welcomed in the blogging community. I should have started blogging sooner, but always put it off. The wealth of ideas, creativity, support, laughter, etc. is astounding to me. I can't seem to get enough, and I feel so good every time I read nice comments from other bloggers.

Reading this post and looking at the comments, I think YES! yes, yes.

In life when will we get the chance to meet precisely the type of people that get us, touch us? It's rare. But through blogging all we have to do is put ourselves out there and wait. Eventually just the right people will come to us. Blogging has also reconciled me with women. I have never felt accepted in such a satisfying way. Thank you for the post. And Deb? You rock!

nadia, you must know that people like you make the difference. I wouldn't have dreamt of striking such beautiful friendships through blogging, but the fact that I have and the dozens of extra smiles that my blogger friends bring me every single day that weren't there before are priceless.
it's comforting :)

I have to admit, that I've only had one friend in my life that is a woman and has always been my friend since we were 5 years old. At one point we lost touch for a few years, but once back in touch it was as if we never changed. Michelle from Cicada Studio is special to me because I always know she is there even when our lives are busy. (I should be telling her this, too.) I have had girlfriends come and go. I always made friends with men easily. If you look at my life it makes sense. Married to a Marine. Two children: boys and for the holidays I expect my dad, and two single brothers. I'm surrounded by men. So, I guess that is why, like you, I am so amazed to find so many women I'm comfortable chatting with through blogging. The blog is a miracle to me because I feel I'm in touch with like-minded spirits and I can let them into my life as they let me into theirs. It is, indeed, special.

I think Deb's work is out of this world and someday I'll splurge on myself. Your photos are gorgeous, the necklace is a work of art. Enjoy it and your friendship!

Blogging has changed my life- I feel connected- especially with women, which was something I was lacking. That connection has brought comfort, support and focus. I know myself better as a result- and it makes me aware of those around me. I love the spirit of the community in which I've found myself.

And Camille, we're lucky to have each other!

Most of y friens were people from work, and they were all men but through blogging I have met so many wonderful women who have over the years become great friends. I am actually going to one such friend's wedding next week and I'll be her bridesmaid and cake maker!!
I often wish I could create a little village with all of us somehow!!
The necklace is perfect for you Nadia and you photographed it so eloquently that it speaks on its own!
