a decade of being elle

there is this girl that has a big piece of the pie when it comes to my love, if not the biggest.

her heart is so kind and gentle. see sees the world very much the way i see it

she notices all the little things and makes them special. she is so talented and picks up everything

on the first try. she can work a camera so wonderfully that soon she will be teaching me.

she is kind to all creatures and all creatures adore her. she has a sweet tooth and is not afraid of baking the most complex of recipes. 

I love my nature walks with her, i love hiding with her in the dark behind trees waiting for deer to emerge, or discovering a fisher cat high up in a tree and running back for binoculars, she has incredible patience.  

I love that she in ten today, because ten i remember and it felt special. I will be going to montreal to celebrate her birthday this weekend, we will go boulangerie & patisserie hopping, old montreal for picture taking (she received her very own camera this morning) and china town for dinner.

happy birthday to you dear elle. can't wait to spend the summer with you. to play in the dirt while wearing a skirt. to plant a garden and watch it grow. to eat sweet potatoes and asparagus too. to brush ponies, horses and ride them too. to gather eggs from hens and ducks. to swim in the ocean and hike mountains, to walk the dogs and find green moss. to sit on the porch eating homemade popsicles.

my sister is celebrating her birthday today! i am so glad you are okay, so glad that medical miracles happen everyday. may this year be extra special full of strength, health and inspiration.

I never liked eggs before, they were never my favorite. i soon realized i had not tasted a real good egg. now that we get them right from the pasture fed, free range chickens a few houses down, i now understand the meaning of a good egg. truth is i can not get enough!

Happy birthday my dear elle, wish i was there with you. I am looking forward to the summer with you. to play in the garden, in the sand, in the woods. I can't wait to bake, pick berries and eat them too. I can't wait for you to take pictures, work on a book. to swim, fly a kite and roast marshmallows. we will walk the dogs, ride a horse, ride our bikes. we will read books, draw some pictures, and talk about boys and there germs! we will laugh at uncle k and dylan and hide and scare them too. we will go for long drives, walks and visit more museums.You are my "bestest friend". happy birthday!
