my time in montreal

last weekend i went to montreal where i am from. i had wanted  a few days in the city, traffic lights, cafes, good food and conversation. I got all this and more. saturday was spent in old montreal, the weather was beautiful melting snow filled the roads and the sun was bright. we had a healthy but delicious lunch and Veritas, we went in and out of little shops that seemed to be showering us with gifts. one of the shops Saithong,  gave the kids beautiful carved pens, Merci Jan guy!. In another shop
Zone Orange gave us cupcakes to go as many as we wanted, thanks Samuel! the whole day did feel as if we where celebrating someone's birthday. I love walking down the cobblestone streets, peaking through alleys and popping into new cafes. later still we went to the ethnic market where the most beautiful lady we have ever seen turned around to my sister and i and said " wow you  are beautiful" haha! honestly we could not speak for truly i think her skin was made of milk and her smile was capable of eating the sun, although i did questions her eye sight:) in the evening we  prepared such a wonderful dinner filled with all our favourites and shared funny stories that involved bad driving, police and fines.

I will be going again this weekend to bring the children home( niece and nephew) and already know what places i will be visiting and dining at.

I LOVE your blog. It's beautiful and serene. But I worry that your nephew will (one day) get his feelings hurt because you post so many more photos and words about your niece. Please don't think that just because he's a boy he doesn't care...

thank you anonymous, but the early years of my nephew's time with me is very well documented on this blog. now that he is in high school and camera shy i respect his wishes to not post about him as much.

but just to be sure i asked him again right now and he said he prefers it this way.

thank you for you concern.

...Oh my goodness, I must put Montreal on my list as a place to visit in one's lifetime. Gorgeous. :o)

...Your niece btw, is adorable!

...Sounds like a lovely time and I've seen photos of you and I must admit that the pretty lady is most correct. ;o)

...Have a wonderful day!

...Blessings :o)

wow you have a reader who sure follows your blog closely:)

This is a beautiful post, love the photos of Elle. My brother hated photos of himself at Dylan’s age, in fact we have millions of him ducking and curling himself up into a ball from ages 10-13:) Glad you are respecting his wishes, you are a good auntie.

Old Montreal is our little bit of Europe right here in Canada! And Bravo to Elle! She has the photographers eye which is running in the family.
Take no notice of comments of your amount of photos of your niece and nephews...you know them best.

I really have to go there. SOON!

Oh, those cobblestone streets and that gorgeous red coat! It seems as if we have a small slice of Europe right here in North America~ Thank you for sharing my friend - one more place to put on my travel list~

(and honestly it bothers me that people sign in under Anonymous when leaving negative comments. either own it or don't say it at all... as a mom of four boys who don't like having their photos taken, I can completely relate - people often think I just have #4 as he is the one I post about most often!)

Oh, Nadia, I am not much in to big city life any longer…but the photos and sharing you offer here made my heart beat a little faster and whispered to me of the parts of it I do miss… Like Kimberly, from these photos Montreal speaks of Europe to me too. I love Elle’s coat; she radiates happiness. Your time sounds truly lovely; like the perfect day. This post allowed me to be a part of that. Thank you for sharing!

beautiful photographs . . .bringing back memories from a visit long ago when my aunt's family was settled there. now one of my cousins has returned briefly for work, and it's nice to be reminded of the world she is inhabiting.

thank you, Nadia, and so glad you had such a good time.

Its me again! (Your sis) can't get over the shot elle took of the horse..she learns from the best (her aunty, you)...thanks again for all the fun adventures you took them on and captured! Dylan and Elle had a great march break and enjoyed the hill and the company!!love you!xx

P.S Dylan is like me, does not take pleasure having his photo taken MUCH (as in too much) or even being a "constant" topic on your blog ...keep up the good work, your the best aunty in the world and we all know it...
