bright star and september

dear friends, i have just come back from montreal where we enjoyed a family and friend party, walked in old montreal, hung out in my old neighbourhood of notre dame de grace sipping mocha and reading good canadian newspapers. we have also returned the children as they get ready for another school year.

the house much quieter now yet the sound of the wind and rain keep me company. every year at this time it is almost as if i welcome a new year i find myself making list, resolutions and shedding of things i have accumulated. i love waiting for september to come.

today i have finally promised myself to watch bright star, i have wanted too and yet avoided it too. but now i hardly can wait! the weather and temperature is perfect, the kettle is on and baked goods from montreal await.....
i do believe i will emerge from this movie a changed person at least one can hope!

I'm so jealous of your visit to Montreal, I would love go someday!

I thought Bright Star was lovely, but I'm warning you that setting your expectations for 'life-changing' might be too high. I think it really depends on the person- I found it incredible but since seeing it once I haven't had the itch to see it again (been several months now). Movies that truly astound me usually leave me that itch.

But by all means, WATCH IT. If only because you'll lust after the visual beauty,.

dear josephine,

i am not sure- i must let it linger just a while longer.
i can say that i had thought the story to be different. i thought that maybe it was a story of girl who occupied her time mostly on her own, in silence with needle and thread, walks in stunning environements and that her relationship with keats was imaginary- as you can see i had it all wrong. i guess i anted it to be.

it was beautiful that i can say, sad...

i will write about it again i think

LOVE bright star. LOVE john keats...especially after an intensive summer studying him and his poetry and letters. his last letters to fanny and friends are amazing. love, love, love. keats was brilliant.

I loved Bright Star..set in Hampstead where Steve and Ann live in Delightful Belsize...and friend Joan and I stayed there ..so I loved it for that and remember it with affection. The lovely houses..Hampstead Heath. I loved the stitching. I will be interested to hear what you think of it. You make me want to see it again.

Love your pics of Montreal.. I am looking forward to September too..our spring.
