the people in the city

we hopped on the train dogs in tow their first train ride. well behaved we noticed all the smiles on the train. It is lovely to watch people interact, wonderful to watch smiling faces looking in your direction. as we walked all over the city we noticed that boston was happy. my eyes focused in on small vignettes and other times they became a wide panoramic lens. we sat at a cafe, there was textures, color beyond anything i have ever seen all shapes and sizes age, and color lots and lots of beautiful color. i would focus in on little sounds such as the bell of a bicycle, a child calling out for there mother, a farmer shouting the best deals of the day and laughter there was lots of it today, lots of happy voices. like i said boston was happy.

the sun showing it's glorious self, all of us sharing the time under the same sky. I soaked it all in. i saw everyone doing there best, i saw all of us walking, strolling, sitting on park benches, waiting in the lines of cafes, picking the ripest of fruit, exchanging little bits of ourselves without fear. it was the largest canvas i had ever seen and it was forever changing because this one everyone had a hand in painting. it was the people of the city and i took all that i saw and all that i heard and found myself happy to be a little speck among all of the others..

* SWAP IS NOW CLOSED we have over forty people! so excited- now a lot of work for me to do:)

After living in the city for years and now the country for years, I am always soooooo thrilled when I visit a city and get to be in the hustle and bustle--it is magic. It is like a film or, as you say, a painting.
