the gardner heist

at five minutes to six my husband and i were running down washington st., trying to get to the library. I love a last minute sprint it always wakes the parts of me that had been sleeping for far too long. he grabbed my hand as we ran up the marble steps for three floors. at the top charles our friend and novelist was waiting. we were all there to attend a reading from the author of the book " the gardner heist". i would like to say good things about the discussion but it lacked facts and depth but as it always happens, left me wanting to know more. in 1990 two men dressed as police officers stole over five hundred million dollars worth of paintings including a Vermeer from the Isabella Gardner Museum. Although theories are abundant they most relevant is that perhaps a mobster had stolen these paintings. the isabella gardner museum is one of the most beautiful museum's it has the most stunning courtyard in the center of it drenched with sunlight( a piazza) . the paintings have not been found and most likely are in some attic or dark basement, but if you are like me we romanticize it, believing that someone had to have it, could not live without it. perhaps a gift for his wife or her husband but that is only for hollywood. the frames still hang on the wall of the museum, isabella in her will said that nothing could be removed or changed in the museum ever, i would like to think that they hang there waiting for thier return... did i mention that there is a five million dollars award no questions asked:)

What a story Nadia, it certainly is intriguing! To think that there is a Vermeer hidden away out there.....I can't wrap my head around it!
