she was twirling as the sun set

yesterday i was preparing dinner in the kitchen while the boys where at the park with the dogs, elle was too quiet so i ran up the stairs to find her doing ballet! the sun began to set, little gifts before my eyes, i wondered how i would ever put my camera down..

life is a bowl of cherries!

scooter resting on the back porch, colored pencils spread on a table, a pretty little dress hanging on a hook, children’s books being read out loud by sweet voices, comical tooth brushes resting next to ours, giggles as little feet are chased all around the house by fury paws, fruit devoured by the handful, these are the cherries on top!

our daily lives

dear friends for those who have been with me since last year, you will know come summer time my blog tends to change just a little. Having my niece & nephew for the summer inspires me in so many ways that it is hard not to snap our daily events! no worries though small moments of escape will surely take place and photo shoots commitments will hopefully bring some non family related things:)

i went to montreal and fell in love

with jesse cook. yes i said it out-loud i can see my in laws right about not saying AHA! but it is true. i fell in love with music that jesse cook played from a large stage underneath the blue dark skies in montreal. I had heard a few things by him and never met a guitarist who did not mention his name. we made our way through the thick crowds at the jazz fest when we finally got to the stage surprised by the number of people, we decided to stand at the side of the stage. it was perfect. we where then told that we will be part of the making of his dvd and the kids lit up like a christmas tree! i have to tell you that what came out of all the instruments on stage was one of the most beautiful sounds i have ever heard. i felt so in the moment that my body naturally wanted to move and i did so till the very last string was played. i hope to share some with you.

I also wanted to apologize for a lack of great montreal pics, i simply was having to much fun and forgot to snap away and since it was mostly downtown with thousands of people i simply inhaled it in. OH did i mention on the first night there was this incredible band that played music from Amelie i thought about all of you at that very moment! i also thought hos i wish we could have a gathering there someday!

where is home

i am on my way home to montreal , just stopped for a mocha in burlington vt. i love where i was born, proud of canada for many things but today driving threw the green lush mountains where the fog seems to be taking it's time lifting, i start to feel that my home does not have a street address or border to cross but a place where i find peace within me. like when i was living in a tent, or when k and i are deep into the woods, or swimming in the ocean , in those places i feel at home.

i will be signing off for a few days, forgot my camera charger but still have a little bit to capture a bit of montreal for you so i better make it good:)

with kindness,
nadia

summer color

hello! okay so i must apologize for the lack of new photographs it seems that i have not be able to capture much. sometimes when i dive deep into books i seem to have a hard time finding my way back:) so i thought maybe i would make my next few post on color, the irony of this is that i have been craving the greys of fall, i think that with all the rain from the past few weeks somehow i thought fall was coming not to mention the stories i am reading take place in london and paris ( both these places are beautiful and grey), but it is not and that is good soon the the whole place will be bursting with vibrant & edible color!

la dolce vita

* i wanted the music to play while you read but unfortunately playlist does not have it so tap the link in another window!

the other night i watched la dolce vita.(tap for music) and i heard things this time that made me think even more. I love the streets
of italy in the evening and dawn. I remember sleepless nights of dancing, cafes and at times conversation of the oddest kind:)
Montreal where i am from and where i will soon be dancing in the streets once again, staying out all night was easy, from late night dinners to midnight theaters, dancing till five am, yes five and then a morning espresso as the sun came out... gosh i remember some of it so clearly.

Fellini also wrote " never give up your childlike ways.." well something like that. i agree except do not become a marcello either!

while i watched i thought perhaps I could put a question to you? when the journalist/paparazzi our interviewing Sylvia
one of them ask "sylvia what are three things that you can't live without" her reply was " love, love, love" although i agree
and most of us would add our loved ones. I thought maybe you can tell me three things you would not be able to live without that come after your loved ones.

for me.

I can't live without

memories
a hand to hold or to reach out for mine
and books, lots and lots of books/film/music

our 5 o'clock

five o'clock at our house is probably my favorite time. the dogs patiently wait for their dad. he comes home they go crazy ( my heart smiles big time), then there is calm and tenderness.

* happy canada day!
